Union Oncology Centre is located at the H Zentre, which is a new wellness complex in the prime location of Tsim Sha Tsui. It is fully connected by various transport networks, including the MTR, ferry and high speed rail. A multi-storey car park with private lot reservation option is available in the complex to guarantee hassleless convenience.
Union Oncology Centre is an integrated oncology centre with radiotherapy bunkers providing multi-disciplinary oncology services. Instead of running through different departments in hospital, patients receive oncology treatment in our centre with comprehensive setting. Located at the city centre, patients can immediately return to their social life after receiving treatment at their convenience.
In April 2023, our centre launched the third radiation therapy machine, the "Varian Halcyon® radiotherapy system". It is located in the Ladies’ Area and is designated for female breast cancer patients. In addition, Varian Halcyon® radiotherapy system is operated by female radiation therapists to provide empathetic, comfortable and intimate care throughout treatment for our patients.
The Ladies’ Area includes a changing room, a washroom and dressing area with private lockers and wig stands, offering a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere for patients to freshen up before and after treatment.
The cutting-edge radiotherapy equipment in Union Oncology Centre provides patients with different treatment options.
Our centre equips with a Varian EdgeTM linear accelerator in Hong Kong. The system controls the intensity of each radiation beamlet by a high resolution multi-leaf collimator (MLC) system and a 6 degrees of freedom couch for offering the latest treatment including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). Both treatment techniques optimize the dose distributions in irregularly shaped tumours or tumours which are close to critical organs, so that the dose to surrounding critical organs is minimized, thus treatment side effects are greatly reduced.
Our centre also equips with an advanced Accuray® Radixact® X9 Treatment Delivery system, which provides versatile treatment because of the 360-degree treatment delivery in combination with unique binary MLC. It can treat up to 135 cm field length in a single treatment plan, which is favorable for large area or multi-region treatment.
Our centre is equipped with a Varian Halcyon® radiotherapy system. The system provides the new generation dual-layer multi-leaf collimator (MLC) for offering the latest treatment techniques including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). Compared to conventional linear accelerators, the newly designed dual-layer MLC system enables faster leaf movement and greatly reduces interleaf leakage. Its ‘stacked and staggered’ approach facilitates sharper dose fall off to surrounding critical organs, thus treatment side effects are remarkably minimized. Our Varian Halcyon® radiotherapy system is located in Ladies’ Area and is designated for female breast cancer patients.
We understand that patients and their family need psychological support before and after receiving treatment. Our centre can arrange trained staff to provide counseling services to them.
